The study conducted by PwC for AFD on Sport, Gender, and Development in Africa highlights the advancements and challenges regarding gender equality in sports across several African countries. In South Africa, although policies exist to promote equality, their implementation is uneven, influenced by socio-economic factors. Egypt, with its Women 2030 strategy, aspires for change, but traditional values hinder progress. Kenya shows improvements through public and private initiatives, while Morocco and Senegal are committed to promoting women's sports, although obstacles remain, particularly in infrastructure and representation in sports governance. The media plays a crucial role in the perception of female athletes, who are often underrepresented. The study emphasizes the importance of considering the cultural and historical specificities of each country to develop effective actions.
