Sport en Commun 2.0 Call for Projects: Three African Projects to Connect, Promote and Accelerate Impact through Sport
Good health and well being
Quality education
Gender equality
Decent work and economic growth
Partnerships for the goals
Nearly 160 projects were submitted from across Africa as part of the Sport en Commun 2.0 Call for Projects. Following this mobilization, three organizations were selected to benefit from the integrated support programme: LEAD MFA in Liberia, Nabda Foundation in Morocco, and Société Internationale de Sports et Loisir (SISL – SN SPORT) in Cameroon.
Three projects, three models and three territories, each illustrating a different way of using sport as a driver of development. They all share the same ambition: to take the next step in their development, strengthen their models and enhance their capacity to generate sustainable impact. Each selected organization benefits from an integrated package worth €10,000, designed in particular to facilitate their participation in major events and summits within the sport for development ecosystem. This provides a unique opportunity to showcase their projects to donors, investors and leading partners, build direct connections with these stakeholders, and create new opportunities for collaboration and funding.
- LEAD Monrovia Football Academy: Using Football as a Driver of Education and Opportunities for Young People in Liberia
In Liberia, the project led by LEAD MFA combines football, education and leadership development. Through sport, it supports young people from low-income backgrounds across all 15 counties of the country, seeking to create pathways between sporting participation, academic achievement and future career opportunities.
The experience gained so far provides a strong foundation for this ambition. Since 2015, the project has supported more than 250 students and reached more than 20,000 young people through recruitment activities, tournaments and awareness-raising initiatives. It achieved a 100% pass rate in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in both 2024 and 2025, while all of its graduates went on to pursue post-secondary education.
- Nabda Inclusive Sport Model: Developing Sport That Is Accessible to All in Morocco
In Morocco, the Nabda Inclusive Sport Model places inclusion at the heart of sporting participation. The project brings together people with disabilities, people living with chronic illnesses and able-bodied participants through adapted physical activity programmes, with the aim of making sport more accessible and fostering social participation.
Over the past 24 months, 200 beneficiaries have taken part in the programmes, with an annual re-engagement rate of 92%. These results demonstrate an established dynamic and provide a strong foundation for further developing the model.
- Campus Jeunesse et Sport: Making Sport a Driver of Territorial Development in Cameroon
In Cameroon, the Campus Jeunesse et Sport project, led by Société Internationale de Sports et Loisir (SISL – SN SPORT), aims to establish a regional sports hub in Mbalmayo.
Its ambition goes beyond sporting activities alone. The future complex will bring together sport, training, entrepreneurship, events and employment opportunities, creating a space capable of bringing together clubs, young people, businesses and institutional stakeholders.
Three Projects, Three Complementary Approaches
LEAD MFA, the Nabda Inclusive Sport Model and Campus Jeunesse et Sport illustrate three complementary dimensions of sport for development in Africa.
In Liberia, sport contributes, in a context of widespread school dropout, to opening up educational and professional opportunities for young people. In Morocco, it serves as a tool to promote the social inclusion of people with disabilities and challenge stereotypes. In Cameroon, it forms part of a broader ambition for territorial development, training and the creation of economic opportunities.
Through this support, and with the backing of the Sport en Commun platform, the three organizations benefit from a structured framework to strengthen their models, increase their visibility and access new opportunities for funding and collaboration. Connecting the projects directly with key stakeholders and partners across the sport for development ecosystem is one of the programme’s core objectives. Major events and summits provide valuable opportunities to showcase the projects, engage with potential partners and build meaningful synergies.
