The TAGGAT 2026 program has officially been launched, marking a major step in the professionalisation of the Senegalese sports ecosystem in the lead-up to the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games and beyond.
The TAGGAT 2026 programme has officially been launched, marking a decisive milestone in the professionalisation of Senegal’s sports ecosystem as the country prepares to host the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. Initiated by the CNOSS and the CNPS, implemented by Sport Impact and supported by the French Development Agency (AFD), this national initiative aims to strengthen skills, improve coordination and reinforce expertise across all levels of the sports sector. More than a preparatory endeavour for the Youth Olympic Games, TAGGAT 2026 is designed to build a lasting legacy that will continue to benefit Senegal well beyond 2026.
At the core of TAGGAT 2026 is the ambition to raise the standard of professionalism in Senegalese sport by providing high-quality training tailored to national needs. The programme targets a diverse group of stakeholders, including federation leaders, club managers, coaches, technical staff, event organisers and early‑career sports professionals. Through a progressive and practice-oriented learning pathway, participants will strengthen their competencies in sports organisation management, technical coaching and athlete development, event planning and delivery, governance and leadership, as well as athlete welfare, performance monitoring and safety.
Beyond technical training, TAGGAT 2026 places strong emphasis on collaboration, peer learning and the exchange of experience. Workshops, collaborative sessions and group activities are integrated throughout the curriculum to encourage cross‑learning, facilitate the sharing of best practices and foster professional networking. This approach allows participants to work together, reflect collectively on the challenges of the Senegalese sports ecosystem and co-develop solutions adapted to the local context. By reinforcing synergies between institutions, practitioners and emerging talents, the programme contributes to building a more coordinated, resilient and effective national sports system.
Implementation will take place through three consecutive cohorts between 2025 and 2026, ensuring a phased rollout and the progressive scaling of impact. This multi-cohort model supports sustained learning, continuous improvement and the creation of a growing community of trained professionals capable of driving long-term transformation within the sector. It also ensures that TAGGAT 2026 remains aligned with the evolving needs of the ecosystem throughout the build-up to the Youth Olympic Games.
Through TAGGAT 2026, Senegal reaffirms its commitment to using sport as a strategic lever for human development, social cohesion and economic opportunity. By combining immediate capacity-building efforts with a long-term vision, the programme ensures that Dakar 2026 is not only a major international event but also a catalyst for meaningful, structural and enduring progress within the national sports landscape.
