The pan-African PASS’SPORT programme officially kicked off with a successful first edition held in Kigali, marking a major milestone in the rollout of this initiative dedicated to strengthening the African sports ecosystem.
Co-developed by Sport Impact, the Fondation of Université Paris Nanterre, and TRACE Global, with the support of the French Development Agency (AFD), PASS’SPORT aims to build the skills and employability of sports professionals while positioning sport as a powerful lever for inclusive economic growth, social cohesion, and sustainable development across Africa.
A successful first edition in Kigali
The Kigali session brought together sports professionals and stakeholders from several African countries for an intensive learning experience combining practical workshops, expert-led discussions, and collaborative sessions. Participants were able to strengthen their managerial and organisational skills, gain a deeper understanding of the role of sport in economic and social development, enrich their professional practices, and connect with a dynamic pan-African network of committed actors.
This first edition laid the foundations for an innovative capacity-building programme designed to support the emergence of a new generation of sports leaders capable of developing high-impact projects rooted in local realities.
Next stop: Abidjan
Building on the momentum of Kigali, PASS’SPORT will hold its next in-person seminar in Abidjan, with a focus on the management and activation of local sports infrastructure and community-based sporting events. This theme addresses a key challenge for the development of grassroots sport and the vitality of local territories.
The Abidjan session will feature specialised content delivered by sector experts, hands-on workshops, case studies, experience-sharing sessions, and opportunities to engage directly with professionals from across the sports ecosystem.
Applications are open from 20 November to 20 December, and sports actors from across the continent are encouraged to apply and join this new chapter of the PASS’SPORT journey.
Stay connected to be part of the next step and contribute to the transformation of sport in Africa.
