A Continental Movement Advancing Health, Inclusion and Sustainable Development Through Physical Activity
Africa’s First MOVE Week Is Underway
As MOVE Week Africa takes place from 21 to 27 September 2026, sports organisations, schools, municipalities and development actors across the continent are mobilising communities to embrace active lifestyles. The initiative builds on the global #NowWeMOVE movement and seeks to raise awareness of the benefits of physical activity.
Building on International Experience
Drawing inspiration from successful MOVE Week campaigns in Europe and Latin America, the African edition adapts the concept to local realities. The campaign promotes healthier communities while highlighting the contribution of physical activity to sustainable development.
Mobilising Partners Across the Continent
The initiative is supported by ISCA, sportanddev, the African Union Sports Council and a broad coalition of partners. National coordinators, sports federations, NGOs and grassroots organisations play a central role in delivering activities and engaging communities.
Sport as a Driver of Health and Inclusion
MOVE Week Africa highlights the role of sport and movement in improving physical and mental well-being. It encourages participation from all population groups and promotes inclusion, social cohesion and active citizenship.
Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals
By expanding access to physical activity and strengthening partnerships, MOVE Week Africa demonstrates how sport can serve as a practical tool for advancing health, education, equality and sustainable development across Africa.
