The International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement under the auspices of UNESCO (ICM) invites applications from qualified organizations in Africa to serve as the Local Implementing Partner for the 2026 African Women Martial Arts Coaches (AWMAC) Workshop – Strengthening Leadership, Gender-Sensitivity, and Coaching Competencies. 

This initiative addresses UNESCO's global priorities of Africa and Gender Equality, contributing to SDG 3, 4, and 5, and the African Union's Protocol on the Rights of Women in Africa (2003).

About the workshop  

The AWMAC Workshop is a blended-learning programme (online + in-person) targeting 20 women martial arts coaches from across Africa. The selected partner will be responsible for the design and operation, coordination of the workshop(e.g., curriculum design, participant recruitment, venue and logistics, safety management, communications, M&E, and financial reporting). 

  • Online: Late August – Early September 2026 (8 hours)
  • In-Person: 15–18 September 2026 (Tentative)
  • Contract Value: Up to KRW 52,000,000 (approx. USD 34,500) 

Eligibility requirements 

Applicants must satisfy ALL of the following: 

  • Legally registered organization, operating for at least 2 years as of the application deadline
  • Physical office in an African country where English is an official language (by constitution or law)
  • Active in martial arts or sports-related programming
  • At least one completed programme targeting women or gender equality

Disqualification criteria

Organizations will be automatically disqualified if ANY of the following applies:  

  • Located in, or proposing a venue in, an area rated Level 3 or Level 4 by the Republic of Korea Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Sactioned within the past 3 years by an international organization or government for misappropriation or misuse of project funds
  • Banned from operations by the government of the country where the workshop is proposed
  • Listed on the World Bank Debarred Firms List
