Project overview
This project aims to strengthen the professional and pedagogical capacities of primary school teachers in the Sofala province of Mozambique through the deployment of the Fútbol Más socio-sportive methodology. Implemented in a context marked by major educational challenges, teacher absenteeism and limited pedagogical resources, the initiative responds to the urgent need to improve education quality and learning environments.
Through sport-based pedagogical tools, the project supports teachers in fostering inclusive classrooms, improving student engagement and reinforcing psychosocial well-being, while addressing issues such as gender equality, inclusion and community cohesion.
Project objectives
- Train and empower teachers to use socio-sportive methodologies in their daily pedagogical practice.
- Improve the quality of education and student engagement in vulnerable schools.
- Reduce school absenteeism and strengthen students’ emotional and social skills.
- Promote inclusive values such as gender equality, cooperation and social cohesion.
Sport and education component: Fútbol Más methodology
- Integration of the Fútbol Más socio-sportive methodology into school activities.
- Use of sport-based exercises to promote participation, teamwork and emotional regulation.
- Classroom strategies linking sport values with academic learning.
Capacity building and institutional strengthening
- Diagnostic assessment of educational needs in selected schools.
- Training of approximately 140 teachers and facilitators.
- Continuous pedagogical support and follow-up.
- Strengthening collaboration between schools, communities and local education actors.
Target beneficiaries
- Direct beneficiaries: approximately 140 primary school teachers and facilitators.
- Indirect beneficiaries: around 6,000 children benefiting from improved teaching practices.
