Project overview

The Little Optimist Sailing Academy is an inclusive sport and therapy programme designed to support children with disabilities through adapted sailing activities. In a context where persons with disabilities continue to face significant social exclusion in South Africa, the project introduces sailing as a therapeutic and educational tool to enhance mobility, confidence and social participation.

By combining sailing therapy with structured learning and psychosocial support, the academy creates safe and empowering environments where children can develop physical abilities, emotional resilience and a sense of belonging while discovering a new sport.
