The “Sport and Decentralised Cooperation” call for projects is a three-year initiative (2021-2023) to support the joint commitment between French local and regional authorities and their foreign partners to make sport a lever for sustainable development in the margins of Paris 2024.

Description

In the Framework of the preparation of the legacy of the organisation of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024, the MEAE, in collaboration with its partners (Paris 2024, Ministry for Sport, French National Olympic and Sports Committee, French Paralympic and Sports Committee, Erasmus+ Youth, Sport National Agency), launches this call for projects «sport and decentralised cooperation» for all French local and regional authorities and their foreign partners working to make sport a lever for sustainable development.

This call for projects aims to:

  • Support international partnerships between communities and the integration of local sports practices;
  • Promote sport as a tool for implementing territorial public policies, in the spirit of Olympic and Paralympic values and SDGs;
  • Help engage local authorities around the world in the dynamics of the 2024 Paris Games;
  • Initiate the strengthening of the role of sport in decentralised cooperation;
  • Enhance French territorial expertise in sport.

 

It will be renewed every year between 2021 and 2023 to support projects on the sidelines of the organisation of Paris 2024.

Funding

The co-financing granted by the Delegation for the External Action of Local and Regional Authorities will be at the maximum of:

  • 50% of the total project cost, for projects with countries eligible for official development assistance (ODA);
  • 70% for those with ODA-eligible countries identified as priorities by CICID;
  • 30% for those with countries not eligible for ODA.
