How can sport address this issue ?
Sport is good for health. There is a great deal of scientific evidence and medical research showing that sports activities reduce the prevalence of numerous diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and obesity. They also improve mental health – relieving symptoms of anxiety, depression and trauma, for example – and contribute to the well-being and personal development of all individuals, including women and children.
Even moderate physical activity for just 20 to 30 minutes, three times a week, has lasting beneficial effects. The World Health Organization has identified physical inactivity as the fourth leading risk factor for mortality worldwide and recognises the preventive and therapeutic impact of sport.
